Lynda May Zavitz (nee Mulholland)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lynda announce her sudden passing at home on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 67 years. Beloved wife and soul mate of 47 years to Mark Zavitz. Dear and loving mother of David (Elizabeth), Andrea Coppins (Matthew), and Karina. Cherished and adored grandmother of Mabel and Stella Coppins. Dear sister of Vicky Mulholland (Mark Summers). Will be missed by her nieces and nephews, and her many aunts, uncles and cousins in Scotland.

Lynda was dedicated to her profession and truly made a difference to the lives of others. She graduated from Scarborough School of Nursing and worked at the Toronto General Hospital, St. Catharines General Hospital, and the Port Colborne Hospital. Lynda worked at one of the first sexual health programs, as well as the AIDS Niagara Program and the Needle Exchange Program. In recent years she worked as a Nurse at the Peninsula Youth Detention Centre in Fenwick, where she will be missed by her colleagues, especially Dr. Rau with whom she worked closely for many years.

Lynda was a proud and loving mother and grandmother who kept true to her faith and will be dearly missed by her Winger Church Family. She loved the Disciples Church Camp at Lake Erie, and the Ontario Christian Youth Fellowship Camp held there at Thanksgiving.

Lynda's loss will be felt by the many members of her Book Club, and by the many close friends that she valued so much in her life.

Lynda was the least selfish person you could hope to meet. She showed true interest to all those in need and made many personal sacrifices for others. She was kind, generous, and thoughtful. Her absence in the community will be deeply felt.

Family and friends will be received at the WAINFLEET B.I.C. CHURCH, 53007 Perry Road on Wednesday April 17th from 6:00-9:00 pm.

An open service to honour Lynda's life will take place at the WAINFLEET B.I.C. CHURCH on Thursday April 18th beginning at 11:00 am with Reverend Kevin McDonald officiating.

A private Interment will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy donations can made to the Winger Church of Christ Memorial Fund or to Living with Power at

I was so deeply saddened to hear of Lynda's sudden passing. My heart goes out to the entire Zavitz family. I pray that God gives you the strength to see you through this difficult time and grace you with peace and comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead. Holding you close in my thoughts and sharing in your sorrow with love and friendship.
I have many, many fond memories of Lynda but my most touching moment was when I had major surgery 18 years ago. When I came to Lynda was sitting beside my hospital bed holding my hand and praying for me.

Lynda, you were the kindest, most sensitive, most selfless, and most generous soul I ever knew--a true "Ball of Love." So incredibly grateful for you.
